Narcissus bulbocodium 'Golden Bells', also known as the Hoop-Petticoat Daffodil, is a distinctive dwarf daffodil with large, golden-yellow trumpet-shaped flowers. Its vigorous growth and excellent weather resistance make it a reliable choice for creating a bright spring display year after year. Growing to just 20cm tall, this compact daffodil is ideal for rockeries, alpine gardens, the front of borders and containers. For a natural-looking display, plant the bulbs in bold drifts through lawns or informal areas of grass. The cheerful flowers also make excellent cut flowers for spring arrangements. How to Grow Plant Narcissus bulbocodium 'Golden Bells' bulbs in moist, well-drained soil in full sun or semi shade. Plant the bulbs approximately 10cm (4") deep and 10cm (4") apart. For the best effect, plant them in groups or natural-looking drifts through borders or informal areas of grass. For a natural-looking display, scatter the bulbs across the planting area and plant them where they land. Daffodils can also be grown indoors in containers of bulb fibre. Place containers in a cool, dark and well-ventilated position at a maximum temperature of 10°C (50°F), watering sparingly to keep the compost moist. Once the growing shoots reach approximately 10cm (4") tall, move indoor containers to a cool, bright position at around 16°C (60°F). After flowering, allow the foliage to die back naturally before removing it in June or July. This helps feed the bulb for the following year's flowers.
