Thompson & Morgan Prunus Tomentosa 3.6 Litre Potted Plant X 1

Prunus tomentosa, also known as the Downy Cherry, is a hardy ornamental shrub that brings multi-season interest to the garden. Unlike traditional cherry trees, it grows in a broad, bushy form that suits woodland-style planting and mixed shrub borders. In early spring, it bursts into life with pale pink, delicately scented blossom before the leaves emerge. These blooms are followed by eye-catching, bright red fruits in late summer, which are not only edible but also a valuable food source for birds and other wildlife. Later in the season, its foliage turns vibrant shades of yellow and orange before falling in autumn, extending its ornamental value well beyond flowering. Easy to grow and tolerant of a wide range of conditions, the Downy Cherry makes a striking addition to wildlife-friendly gardens, informal planting schemes, and larger shrub collections. Its natural, spreading habit gives it a relaxed charm that suits both traditional and contemporary spaces. How to Grow: Light: Prefers a sunny position for best flowering and fruiting. Temperature: Fully hardy in UK gardens. Watering: Water regularly during establishment; drought tolerant once mature. Feeding: Mulch with compost or well-rotted manure in spring to enrich the soil. Humidity: Not fussy; benefits from open, well-drained conditions. Images shown are for guidance only and show the expected results of plants upon maturity.
