Thompson & Morgan Cercis Griffithii Blue Lagoon 9cm Pot X 1, Green

Traditionally known for green, yellow, orange or purple leaves, Cercis is now available, offering a cool, luminous tone that contrasts beautifully with the rich red of its young stems. Before the leaves unfurl, the bare stems are often studded with butterfly-like pink flowers after a hot summer that support hungry pollinators and create an early season highlight when little else is happening in the garden. Heart-shaped, silvery-blue foliage follows, retaining its extraordinary colour right through to autumn and transforming Cercis from a spring-flowering feature into a full-season foliage statement. Offering a cool, contemporary palette, it makes a stunning focal shrub or small tree for modern gardens where its graceful, upright forms adds architecture to dry hot borders and large containers with some protection in the winter. Thriving in heat, sun and dry conditions, thanks to its ability to survive in rocky dry outcrops in its native Afghanistan and an interesting new plant for our changing climate.Ultimate height: 2.5m (8.2ft). Ultimate spread: 1.5m (4.9ft). Features: Shortlisted for RHS Chelsea Plant of the Year 2026 Rare and unusual foliage colour –  With grey-blue leaves!
