Homebase is a well-known British DIY and home improvement retailer with origins dating back to 1979 when Sainsbury's and Belgian retailer GB-Inno-BM conceived the concept of bringing supermarket-style shopping to the DIY market. The first store opened in Croydon in 1981, and the brand quickly established itself as a major player in home improvement retail. After various ownership changes including periods under Home Retail Group and Wesfarmers, Homebase underwent significant restructuring. In 2024, following administration, the Homebase brand and select stores were acquired by CDS Superstores (The Range), ensuring the continuation of this familiar name on the British high street. Homebase offers a comprehensive range of products for home improvement projects, including paint and decorating supplies, kitchens and bathrooms, flooring, furniture, garden products, and essential DIY tools and materials.
