Adam and Eve, written Adam & Eve by the company, is an American retailer of adult wellness and intimate products that sells online to the US and dozens of other countries, including the UK. It belongs to PHE, Inc. of Hillsborough, North Carolina. The company's history page dates the business to 1971, when Phil Harvey and Dr Tim Black began selling condoms by post.
According to the same history page, Harvey's first catalogue went out in 1973, and he later founded DKT International, a non-profit working to widen access to birth control around the world. The site also publishes educational guides and has a resident expert, licensed marriage and family therapist Dr Jenni Skyler.
Visitors in the UK see prices in pounds sterling and can pay in GBP. Orders to the UK and other countries travel from the United States with DHL: Standard and Priority take 3 to 10 business days and Express 2 to 4. Rates appear at checkout, and only Priority includes duties and taxes, so Standard and Express parcels can carry import charges on arrival. In the US, orders placed before 4:15pm Eastern time ship the same day in most cases. Every order goes out in a plain box or envelope, and the Adam and Eve name does not appear on the outside.
Most items can be sent back within 90 days of purchase for a refund or replacement, unless the product description says otherwise. The buyer pays return postage to North Carolina, and original shipping charges are not refunded. Own-label products carry a 5-year replacement warranty and other brands 2 years. Refunds go to the original payment method, and the company asks shoppers to allow 3 to 4 weeks for a return to be processed.
