1990s Vintage Star Brooch

An exquisite piece. 23ct gold plated star brooch. Features round-cut clear Swarovski crystals with ridged detailing. Safety-catch pin closure, stamped with signature Swarovski swan. Queen Alexandra was known to wear countless star and crescent moon brooches across her bodice this creating a revival of star and crescent shaped motif jewellery. Stars and crescents were popular motifs since the 17th century with women of the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian eras adding diamond starbursts and crescent jewels to their collections, inspired by the fascination for astronomy and astrology. 23ct gold plate and Swarovski crystals, 4.5 cm ABOUT THE DESIGNER The birthplace of Swarovski, renown for its high quality crystals, is the Rhine Valley, from whence "rhinestones" got their name.
