Bark.com was founded in November 2014 by British entrepreneurs Andrew Michael and Kai Feller with a vision to make finding professionals to get any job done easier and more efficient. Michael brought prior experience from founding Fasthosts (1999) and Livedrive (2008), while Feller brought entrepreneurial drive to address inefficiencies through automation.

Bark is the UK's largest and fastest-growing services marketplace, matching service buyers to suitable providers in over 1,500 unique categories. The platform helps people book local service professionals for any task, from home improvements to personal services.

Initially bootstrapped entirely by the founders, Bark has expanded to operate in multiple countries including UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Singapore and South Africa. The company was acquired by EMK Capital in April 2022.
