SimplyCook was founded by Oliver Ashness in 2014 after observing how tedious it could be to try new recipes. Noticing that people often cooked the same dishes repeatedly because exotic ingredients were expensive for single meals, he created a solution that delivers just the flavour components needed.
Unlike traditional meal kits, SimplyCook sends monthly boxes containing four recipes and four non-perishable ingredient kits - the spices, pastes, and flavour blends. Subscribers add their own fresh ingredients from the supermarket, reducing food waste and keeping costs down.
Based in London, SimplyCook was acquired by Nestlé in February 2021 but continues to be led by its founding team. The company has grown from a £100,000 investment to serving hundreds of thousands of subscribers across the UK.
