Suttons Seeds

Suttons Seeds is Britain's oldest seed company, founded in Reading in 1806 by John Sutton, a corn factor and miller. In 1832, his sons Martin Hope Sutton and Alfred Sutton joined the business and expanded into flower and vegetable seeds. Pioneers of the industry, Suttons established their own seed testing laboratory in 1840 and were among the first to use the Great Western Railway for distribution. In 1856, they became the first seedsmen to provide cultivation notes with products. Receiving royal patronage in 1858 from Queen Victoria, Suttons has held a Royal Warrant ever since. Now based in Paignton, Devon, the company supplies seeds, plants, and gardening equipment worldwide with over 200 years of expertise.
