Johnny Was is a fashion brand that artist Eli Levite started in Los Angeles in 1987 with a line of bohemian tunics trimmed with embroidery. It now belongs to Oxford Industries, the US apparel group that also owns Tommy Bahama and Lilly Pulitzer and reports Johnny Was as a separate segment. Johnny Was sells through its own website, its retail stores and outlets, and other retailers.

Delivery and returns

Johnny Was sends international orders by DHL Express through Global-e, and shoppers can switch the site to their local currency from the country menu. For deliveries to Britain, the prices shown already include import duties and taxes; the shipping fee depends on the destination and is worked out at checkout. Orders leave on US business days only, and one order can arrive in more than one parcel.

Full-price and standard markdown items can be returned or exchanged within 30 days of delivery if they are unworn, unwashed and unaltered with the tags still on. Anything bought at 50% or more below its original price cannot be returned, and beauty products must come back sealed within 14 days. International customers return by mail, either with a prepaid label at a set rate or with their own postage, and those returns are processed within 3 weeks of the return ship date. Shipping charges are not refunded.

Johnny Was also gives a one-time price adjustment on a full-price item when the original order confirmation is shown within 14 days of the purchase date.
