AG1 (formerly Athletic Greens) is a daily health supplement brand founded in 2009-2010 by Chris Kiwi Ashenden, a former New Zealand police officer. Ashenden's journey began when $35,000 worth of medical tests revealed his body wasn't absorbing nutrients, requiring 50 daily pills at $100 per day. Despite being $5 million in debt from failed real estate investments, he created a comprehensive supplement alternative. Bootstrapping to $160 million revenue before raising $115 million from Alpha Wave Global at a $1.2 billion valuation in 2022, AG1 has been fully remote from day one. Endorsed by Tim Ferriss, Joe Rogan, Andrew Huberman, Lewis Hamilton, and Hugh Jackman, the company rebranded from Athletic Greens to AG1 in 2021.
