Introduction Glossy green leaves and a characterful trunk make Banyan Fig an inviting choice for a bright home. Its shaped outline offers a form to maintain and refine over time. It is supplied in an approximately 30cm pot. About this bonsai This tropical fig responds well to gentle shaping and is a popular introduction to indoor bonsai. Root and trunk forms vary between trees; aerial roots may develop in suitable conditions but are not a guaranteed feature. Tree details Common name: Banyan Fig Botanical name: Ficus microcarpa Style: Shaped Pot: Approximately 30cm external width; bonsai pot Position: Bright, warm indoor position Foliage: Evergreen Experience: Beginner Position & light Place close to a bright window, away from cold draughts and direct radiator heat. A summer stay outdoors is possible only in reliably warm weather, after gradual acclimatisation to stronger light. Watering Feel the soil before watering. When the upper layer starts to dry, water the whole root ball thoroughly and allow it to drain. Avoid both permanently saturated soil and complete drying. Feeding & pruning Feed with suitable bonsai fertiliser while the tree is growing. Trim extending shoots to maintain its shape. Plan substantial root work for warm conditions when the tree is healthy and actively growing. Winter care Keep indoors, warm and frost-free, with as much natural light as possible. Water according to soil moisture, as growth and water use often slow in darker months. What you'll receive One Banyan Fig bonsai in the pot described above. A drip tray is not included unless specifically included in a purchased option. Photographs are representative; trunks, branches, foliage and overall shape vary naturally between trees.
