Introduction Buddhist Pine has narrow evergreen leaves and a composed, structured appearance that suits careful bonsai styling. Its shaped outline offers a form to maintain and refine over time. It is supplied in an approximately 25cm pot. About this bonsai Despite its common name, Podocarpus is not a true pine. Its attractive foliage can be refined gradually through light pruning. The precise species has not yet been confirmed. Tree details Common name: Buddhist Pine Botanical name: Podocarpus sp. (species to be confirmed) Style: Shaped Pot: Approximately 25cm external width; blue glazed rectangular bonsai pot Position: Bright and sheltered, with frost-free winter protection Foliage: Evergreen Experience: Beginner to intermediate; larger specimens need suitable space and protection Position & light Give plenty of natural light and good airflow. A sheltered outdoor position suits warm weather; a bright conservatory can also work. Move between environments gradually and avoid a dim room or direct radiator heat. Watering Water thoroughly when the upper soil layer begins to dry, allowing excess water to escape. Avoid keeping the root ball constantly soggy. Feeding & pruning Apply a suitable bonsai feed during active growth. Shorten new shoots to maintain the shape, leaving healthy foliage. Plan major styling and repotting around the condition and growth of the tree. Winter care Use a bright, cool, frost-free position while the precise species and hardiness are unconfirmed. Check that any greenhouse or cold frame actually stays frost-free; protect from cold, drying winds. What you'll receive One Buddhist Pine bonsai in the pot described above. A drip tray is not included unless specifically included in a purchased option. Photographs are representative; trunks, branches, foliage and overall shape vary naturally between trees.
