Against All Odds

Against All Odds is a stylish 1984 American neo-noir romantic thriller starring Jeff Bridges, Rachel Ward and James Woods. Combining romance, suspense, crime and corruption, the film follows a former professional footballer drawn into a dangerous search that becomes increasingly personal. After an injury ends Terry Brogan’s sporting career, he accepts a job from nightclub owner and bookmaker Jake Wise: find Jake’s runaway girlfriend, Jessie Wyler, in Mexico. When Terry and Jessie fall in love, they return to Los Angeles together, only to become caught in a tangled web of murder, gambling and real-estate corruption. A remake of the 1947 film noir classic Out of the Past, Against All Odds is a compelling choice for fans of romantic crime films, neo-noir cinema and 1980s thrillers.
