This truly stunning tulip variety produces large, unique blooms with irregular and unusual twisted and curled petals, each with streaks in a wide range of vibrant colours. Tulip ‘Rasta Parrot’ is aptly named as it looks reminiscent of a beautiful exotic bird! This plant is most definitely a showy addition to the garden, making an eye-catching feature in spring bed and border displays. Plant in large container pots for an impressive patio display, or cut a few stems to make an exciting cut flower display indoors that is sure to make an interesting talking point. Plant tulip bulbs in late summer or autumn. Tulips will grow well in any moist, well drained soil, except for particularly wet soils. Choose a sunny position that is sheltered from strong winds. When planting tulip bulbs avoid shallow planting as this may reduce the winter cold period that is essential for tulip bulbs to produce flowers in spring. Plant them at a depth of 15cm (6") and at a distance of 13cm (5") apart. After flowering, deadhead the faded tulip flowers and allow the foliage to die back completely before removing it in summer.
