Often considered to be the sunflower that flowers the quickest and is also the smallest, making it perfect for smaller spaces. Sunflower 'Choco Sun' is multi-flowering, producing sunny yellow petals with large chocolate brown centres. Flowers appear just eleven to twelve weeks after sowing. Ideal for bringing sunny colour to containers or borders, or for an easy beginner plant for children to grow. Sow seeds March to May. Sow seeds thinly, 12mm (1/2") deep in drills 45cm (18in) apart in well cultivated soil raked to a fine tilth or direct into small containers. Germination takes around 21 days. When large enough to handle, thin to 45cm (18in) apart. For earlier flowering: Sow indoors, individually in 7.5cm (3in) pots at 20-25C (68-77F). When well grown, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions before planting out after all risk of frost into borders or containers. Prefers a well drained soil in full sun.
