Sweeter than butternut squash, Squash ‘Honeyboat’ makes a lovely addition to the kitchen garden. Producing big crops around 15-20cm (6-8”) in length and 500-600g (1lbs) in weight from late summer to mid-autumn, you can use this versatile, deliciously sweet squash in a wide range of different ways; you can bake, mash, steam, roast or even make it into a soup! Its distinctive green lines fade when it’s ready to harvest, making it very easy to grow. It has excellent storage potential, meaning you can enjoy its delicious crops for months after harvesting.Sow seeds April to June. Sow seed 2cm (3/4”) deep in 7.5cm (3”) pots in good free draining, damp seed compost. Place in a propagator at 21-25C (70-77F) or sealed container in a polythene bag until after germination. Can also be sown direct outdoors once the soil has warmed. Do not sow in cold soils. Sow two seeds every 1.2m (4’) and thin out to the best seedling. Ideally grow under cloches until the plant is established. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for a few days before planting out after all risk of frost has passed 1.2m (4’) apart.Keep squashes well watered throughout the season. Feed and mulch regularly. Prefers well drained, moist, rich soil in full sun. Also grows well in cooler climates.As versatile as a potato - use roasted, baked, mashed or steamed and enjoy the tasty and attractive orange flesh.Product Specifications:.
