Marigold 'Moon' produces large, double yellow blooms that stand proudly on the long, bushy stems. Stands up to F1 hybrids in terms of quality and performance, but for half the price. The flowers can also be used in salads and sandwiches providing a citrus taste. Sow seed on the surface of good, free-draining, seed compost. Cover seeds with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a plastic bag and place at a termperature of 20-30C (68-86F) until after germination which usually takes 7-21 days. Do not exclude light as this helps germination. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into trays or 7.5cm (3in) pots. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 37-45cm (15-18in) apart.
