Syringa double lilac Madame lemonie is an elegant trouble free variety with nectar rich fragrant flowers that are loved by butterflies. With strong spreading branches that hold double white flowers with heart shaped foliage. A great specimen shrub for a cottage garden that requires little maintenance. Height and Spread: 7m (22”). Culinary note: Adding the fragrant flowers to cream cheese or even yoghurt for a hint of lemon flavour. Pot up lilac plants and grow them on until large enough to plant out in their final positions. Transplant lilac plants into rich fertile, well drained, neutral or alkaline soil in full sun. Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established. Prune lilac bushes in winter or spring by removing any damaged, diseased or misplaced stems before lightly shaping the remaining stems. After pruning, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the shrub.
