Alternatively, you can let it grow to its full height and use it to provide added privacy to your garden. Grow Cornus plants in any well drained soil. Choose a position in full sun. Feed and water dogwoods regularly until fully established. Once established, they will require less attention. To encourage plenty of colourful stems, Dogwood will need regular pollarding in early spring. Cut back all dogwood stems to 3 buds above soil level or to a permanent low framework.
