Description

Tomato 'Buffalosun' F1 is a high-performing cordon variety that combines old-fashioned heirloom looks with modern hybrid benefits. Its large, beefsteak-style fruits are ribbed, sweet, and meaty, boasting amber-gold skins with a rich red blush and marbled interiors—perfect for slicing into colourful summer salads. Ideal for outdoor cultivation, this half-hardy annual has been bred for the UK climate and offers robust resistance to many common diseases, particularly late blight. Its vigorous growth and reliable performance make it a top pick for both experienced and beginner gardeners alikeSow indoors from February to April (for greenhouse growing) or March to April (for outdoors). Use a moist, free-draining seed compost and keep at 15–20°C until germination (7–14 days). Transplant seedlings into 7. 5cm pots once they develop two true leaves. Maintain a minimum temperature of 15°C. Transplant to final positions once the risk of frost has passed, late May for greenhouses, early June for outdoors, spacing plants 60cm apart. Choose a sunny, sheltered spot with fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Support plants with a 5’ cane and tie the main stem as it grows. Water regularly, feed with high-potash fertiliser after fruit set, and remove side shoots. Once 6–7 fruit trusses have formed, pinch out the main stem tip to focus the plant’s energy on ripening. Harvest from July to September. Images shown are for guidance only and show the expected results of plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e. g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months). Decorative pots are not supplied.
