Tomato 'Alicante' is a superior tomato variety with an RHS AGM. It produces early, heavy crops of medium-sized, greenback-free fruits with a superb sweet flavour. Perfect for cordon growth, it thrives in greenhouses or sheltered outdoor spots. Its productive and reliable habit makes it an excellent choice for any tomato grower. Companion planting with French marigolds, basil, chives, or mint helps deter pests naturally. Fruits can be harvested from July to September as they ripen. Growing Instructions For greenhouse cultivation, sow February to March; for outdoors, sow March to April. Sow seeds on the surface of free-draining seed compost, cover lightly, and keep at 15–20°C until germination (7–14 days). Transplant seedlings with 2 true leaves into 7. 5cm pots, maintaining a minimum of 15°C. Gradually acclimatise plants before planting outdoors after frost risk has passed. Space plants 60cm apart in full sun on fertile, well-drained soil. Support main stems with canes, tie, and remove side shoots. Feed with high-potash fertiliser after first truss forms, water regularly, and pinch out the top after 6–7 trusses to maximise quality crop.
