-Sunflower 'Carmel' is a professional grower's variety ideal for cutting or enjoying in the garden. Large flowers with bright yellow petals surround a dark centre, each held on a tall, stout stem. Pollen-free flowers prevent mess under vases, making them perfect for bouquets. This variety produces flowerheads around 15cm in diameter and grows to a tall, elegant height. It is ideal for garden borders or creating striking floral displays. Growing Instructions Direct sow outdoors from April to May where plants will grow. Choose a sunny position with well-drained soil prepared to a fine tilth. Sow seeds 1cm deep in drills spaced 45cm apart. Keep soil watered, particularly in dry periods. Germination takes up to 21 days. Thin seedlings to 30cm apart once large enough. Alternatively, sow indoors in 7. 5cm pots from March to April at 20–25°C and grow on until safe to plant outdoors after frost risk has passed. Feed and water regularly.
