Rhubarb 'Stockbridge Arrow' (Rheum x hybridum) is a traditional Yorkshire-bred variety, renowned for its bold, deep red stems and rich flavour. A high-yielding, late-season crop, it’s perfect for gardeners looking to extend their rhubarb harvest into early summer. The long, thick stalks are ideal for all kinds of culinary uses – from tangy crumbles and sweet compotes to homemade jams. This hardy perennial thrives in moist but well-drained soil and prefers a sunny location. It's excellent for early forcing and will reliably produce tender stems from April through June. Plant crowns or budded pieces between autumn and spring, spacing them 75cm (30") apart. Enrich the planting site with well-rotted manure or compost. Set crowns just below soil level (3cm/1").
