Clematis 'Glorious™ Day' produces large deep purple blooms up to 10cm across, with semi-double and single flowers often appearing together on the same plant. This striking variety makes a wonderful feature scrambling through shrubs, clothing garden supports, or brightening a patio container. With regular deadheading, it flowers prolifically from summer into autumn, extending colour through the season. For best results, plant clematis deeply in fertile, moist but well-drained soil, with the crown positioned 7. 5cm (3") below soil level to encourage strong new shoots. Clematis prefer soils that are neither too wet nor too dry, so enrich planting sites with compost or well-rotted manure. Train onto wires, trellis, or free-standing frames, and water and feed regularly through the growing season. Apply a spring mulch to conserve moisture and protect the roots. Pruning group 3: Cut back all stems in spring to a pair of healthy buds around 20cm (8”) above ground level, as this variety flowers on the current year’s growth.
