TANGU Block Woven M Block

These true red and white colour block baskets are carefully handwoven in three handy sizes, crafted from sustainably sourced sisal grass by artisan women in rural Kenya. Use your new woven storage basket for keeping jewellery, toiletries and stationery organized, or fill yours with fruit, dried flowers, children’s toys, remote controls, rugs, gloves and hats. These round sisal baskets make excellent desk tidies, toy baskets and woven planters for your houseplants – and perfect new home gifts. Whichever way you choose to use your new woven basket it is sure to bring a dash of texture and pastel-hued joy to your home. We are proud to partner with weaving groups in several rural corners of Africa, and the women in this particular group are simply brilliant at producing an array of gorgeous colours through meticulous hand dyeing. These women have woven from a young age: the age-old craft of basket weaving is passed along the female line and is being kept alive for future generations thanks to your purchases. Basket weaving within craft collective such as this empowers women to support their families with a flexible income in the dry seasons, where farming alone becomes unsustainable. When you choose one of our woven baskets you actively support these weavers’ livelihoods, forging our commitment to them.
