Description
A carefully selected wildflower seed mix designed to attract honey bees, bumblebees and solitary bees to a garden or balcony, helping to support biodiversity on your doorstep. Each seed ball contains approximately 30 bee-friendly wildflower seeds including Birdsfoot Trefoil, Foxglove, Red Clover, Vipers Bugloss and Wild Marjoram. Each bag of 100 seed balls will cover a 5 square metres in a garden bed or 15-25 medium sized pots. Best scattered in the Spring or Autumn. Features: No need to dig! As the wildflower seeds are encased in clayand peat-free compost, they are essentially already planted. Simply scatter onto bare soil or compost (avoid scattering on grass) on a garden bed or in a pot, leaving at least 10cm betweeneach ball. The outer clay helps to prevent birds and insects from eating the seeds, keeping the seeds nicely protected andensuring your bee and butterfly friendly wildflower garden has every chance of growing success With water and enough sun and warmth, the wildflower seeds inside the ball will start to germinate and little shoots will begin to appear from the ball. This process can take 4-6 weeks from scattering depending on the frequency of rainfall. It can be speeded up by watering the seed balls once or twice on dry days. We add chilli powder to our Seedball recipe to help deter slugs and snails from eating the young shoots Slowly the ball will disperse and become less visible, leaving aill patch of young plants which w continue to grow into a beautiful wildflower garden. Each type of wildflower takes a different length of time to come into flower some will flower in the first year and others will flower in the following year. Once in flower they will provide important habitat and food for an abundance of garden wildlife Wildflowers are naturally slow to germinate and so especially suceptable to predation. In helping to protect them by growning from seed balls, the chance of successful germination and early growth is maximised Best scattered in the Spring and Autumn, leave at least 10cm between each ball. Seeds sown in the Spring may not flower until the following year Seed balls are easy to use, with no need to be a gardening expert at all. As well as being fun to use yourself, they make for great gifts for all who love the outdoors, bees, gardening and sustainable, British-made gifts Made in London at our small factory, and we only ever use UK grown seed that is native or naturally established, and appears on the RHS 'Plants for Pollinators' list Seedball is a mulitple award winning company founded over 10 years ago by two conservation scientists who wanted to make it easier for everyone to grow native wildflowers in their outdoor spaces.
