Lithium-Ion Battery Storage & Charging | Smoke Detection | Up to 8 Charging Sockets The Phoenix Battery Fighter BS0440 Series is a specialist fire-resistant safe designed for the safer storage and charging of lithium-ion batteries in commercial, professional and domestic environments. With the growing use of rechargeable batteries in power tools, e-bikes, e-scooters, garden equipment, laptops and other electronic devices, organisations increasingly need a dedicated location in which batteries can be stored and charged. The Battery Fighter combines substantial double-wall construction and fire-resistant insulation with integrated charging sockets, smoke detection and alarm, helping businesses create a more controlled environment for managing rechargeable batteries. Available in three sizes from 63 to 163 litres, with a choice of Key, Electronic or Fingerprint locking. Designed for Lithium-Ion Battery Storage & Charging Lithium-ion batteries can present a fire risk if damaged, defective, incorrectly charged or subjected to excessive temperatures. One of the most significant risks is thermal runaway, where a rapid increase in battery temperature can lead to ignition and an intense fire that can be extremely difficult to control. The Phoenix Battery Fighter provides a dedicated, fire-resistant location for storing and charging rechargeable batteries, helping organisations improve the way these increasingly common devices are managed. Smoke Detection & External Alarm The current Battery Fighter specification includes an internal smoke detector together with an external wireless alarm. This provides an additional level of early warning should smoke be detected within the cabinet. For organisations routinely charging lithium-ion batteries, this is an important advantage over simply storing or charging batteries within a conventional cupboard or storage area. Tested Fire Protection The Battery Fighter uses Phoenix's double-wall construction with Styronite F fire-resistant insulation to provide substantial resistance to heat and fire. The three models have been tested to the Swedish NT Fire 017 standard: BS0441 & BS0442Tested to NT Fire 017-90 Paper BS0444Tested to NT Fire 017-120 Paper The larger BS0444 therefore provides up to 120 minutes of certified fire protection for paper documents. These ratings demonstrate the fire-resistant construction of the cabinet. They should not, however, be interpreted as a guaranteed period for containing a lithium-ion battery fire, as the NT Fire 017 test relates specifically to the protection of paper against an external fire. Fire & Impact Tested The Battery Fighter has also undergone a 9.1 metre fire and impact drop test, designed to assess its resistance to the type of impact that could occur if a safe fell through the burning floors of a building. Combined with its substantial construction, this makes the Battery Fighter considerably different from a conventional steel battery-storage cabinet. Robust Fire-Resistant Construction The Battery Fighter features double-wall construction incorporating Phoenix's patented Styronite F insulation. This construction provides substantial physical strength together with resistance to fire and heat. Each model is finished in a high-quality, scratch-resistant White RAL 9003 finish and carries appropriate battery hazard warning labels. Key, Electronic or Fingerprint Locking All three sizes are available with a choice of three locking systems. Key Lock – K A high-quality key lock supplied with two keys, providing straightforward mechanical access. Electronic Lock – E An advanced high-security electronic lock featuring scrambled-code functionality, providing convenient keyless access.
