Description

SECTIOON_START: Description Duac gel is an acne treatment that combats spots by minimising whiteheads and blackheads while also inhibiting acne-causing bacteria. Description Directions After cleansing the face and removing makeup, apply a thin layer of Duac gel to the affected area each evening. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, lips, and nostrils. Remember to wash your hands after application. Directions Warnings Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Stop using Duac Once Daily Gel and see a doctor straight away if you notice any of the following serious side effects – you may need urgent medical treatment: • Signs of an allergic reaction (such as swelling of your face, eyes, lips or tongue, nettle rash or difficulty breathing, collapse) • Severe or prolonged diarrhoea or abdominal cramps • Severe burning, peeling, or itching. Other possible side effects: If you notice any of these side effects, try using Duac Once Daily Gel less often, or stop using it for 1 or 2 days and then start again. Very common side effects (at least 1 in 10 people are affected): At the site of application: • Skin burning sensation, peeling, itching, dry skin • Redness of your skin, especially during the first few weeks of use. These side effects are generally mild. Common side effects (less than 1 in 10 people are affected): • Headache. At the site of application: • Sensitivity to sunlight • Skin pain • Red, itchy skin, rash (dermatitis). Uncommon side effects (less than 1 in 100 people affected): At the site of application: • Tingling (paraesthesia), worsening of acne. Other side effects Other side effects have occurred in a very small number of people, but their exact frequency is unknown: • Allergic reactions • Inflammation of the intestine, diarrhoea, including bloody diarrhoea, and stomach pain. At the site of application: • Skin reactions, discolouration of the skin • Raised itchy rash (hives). Reporting of side effects If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed. By reporting side effects, you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine. Warnings Ingredients The active substances are: Clindamycin and hydrous benzoyl peroxide. 1 g of gel contains 10 mg (1 % w/w) clindamycin as clindamycin phosphate and 30 mg (3 % w/w) anhydrous benzoyl peroxide as hydrous benzoyl peroxide. The other ingredients are: Carbomer 940, dimeticone, disodium lauryl sulfosuccinate, disodium edetate, glycerol, silica (colloidal hydrated), poloxamer 182, purified water and sodium hydroxide. Ingredients FAQs How does Duac gel work? Duac gel combines clindamycin phosphate (1%) and benzoyl peroxide (3%) to target acne in two ways. Clindamycin acts as an antibiotic, inhibiting acne-causing bacteria, while benzoyl peroxide breaks down blackheads and whiteheads, reducing acne and inflammation. Is Duac gel effective? Duac gel's dual-action formula can effectively treat acne. Results may take 2-6 weeks to show, and it's recommended not to use it for more than 12 weeks continuously. Are there any side effects of Duac gel? Possible side effects include peeling, itching, dryness, and redness, especially initially. Duac gel also increases skin sensitivity to sunlight, so minimise sun exposure and avoid sunbeds. Is it safe to use Duac gel during pregnancy or breastfeeding? Avoid using Duac gel if pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy. Will Duac gel interact with other medications? Duac gel should not be used simultaneously with products containing erythromycin, tretinoin, isotretinoin, or tazarotene, whether applied topically or taken orally.FAQs
