The marmot, with its black or brown coat, stock body and small size, round ears, is a mammal of the order of rodents. Today, the most common species in Europe, and the one we all know, is the mountain marmot. In Canada, it is called 'whistling' because, in case of danger the marmot will emit a strong whistling sound to alert its congeners.
