Defy Rock Climbing Shoes 8.5

The Defy is an ideal step up for newer climbers looking for more precision without jumping straight into high-aggression footwear. This shoe helps you feel more connected to the wall, with its slightly downturned shape and more asymmetric fit than most beginner models. The strap version offers a softer, more sensitive feel than the lace-up, giving you better feedback on volumes and smears. To help you find the right balance between flexibility and support, the PSR (Performance Shape Rating) scale runs from 1 to 10. A rating of 1–3 is best for soft, sensitive shoes, great for smearing and volumes. 4–7 offers a balance—ideal for both smearing and edging. If you’re looking for something stiffer for small edges, consider shoes rated 8–10. Enjoy your climb in comfort and style.
