The Elta SPA250/4-1AC is a 250mm Raptor plate mounted axial fan with a 4 pole single phase motor, moving up to 983 m³/h in free air and working against static pressures up to 50 Pa. It runs at 37 dB(A) at 3m.It runs on a 220-240V AC external rotor motor at 1368 rpm, insulated to Class F with integral thermal overload protection, drawing 46 W and 0.24 A. The Ziehl-Abegg FE2owlet aerofoil impeller has serrated trailing edges and winglets for lower noise, the motor is weatherproofed to IP44 with an IP55 terminal box, and Elta give a 12 month warranty. 1 Phase AC Motor Up to 983 m³/h Speed Controllable What it is best used forThrough-wall extract or supply on a single phase supply where noise matters, in plant rooms, stores, small workshops, garages and back of house rooms in shops. At 983 m³/h it gives about 6 air changes an hour in a space of roughly 165 m³, for example 11m x 5m with a 3m ceiling.It is a low pressure fan. The datasheet shows airflow only up to 50 Pa, so it is the wrong choice for ducting or heavy louvres; use a cased axial or inline mixed flow fan there. The motor is IP44, so on an exposed external wall fit a wall cowl or louvre shutter. It is not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres.Why choose this over alternativesAgainst the Compact Elta SCP250/4-1AC (954 m³/h, up to 50 Pa, 80 W, 42 dB(A)), the Raptor moves more air and is quieter, thanks to its Ziehl-Abegg impeller and external rotor motor. The 2 pole Elta SPA250/2-1AC moves more air (1584 m³/h, up to 100 Pa, 125 W, 50 dB(A)) but is louder.Installation notes Mount the 370 x 370mm fan plate securely at any angle using the four 7mm holes on 320mm centres. Make sure the structure can carry its 5 kg and leave access for maintenance. The motor is prewired to an IP55 terminal box on a flying lead, so the box can be placed to suit the incoming supply. Wire to Elta diagram 152-177 and make all earth connections. Speed can be controlled with the 149-EL31 electronic controller or the 149-TC12 five step transformer controller. Fit a local means of isolation. The AC motor has an auto-reset thermal cut-out, so isolate the supply before any work because the fan can restart on its own once it cools. At first start check impeller rotation and airflow direction, and that the running current does not exceed the rating plate. Inspect and clean blades and guards at least every 12 months.
