SLCX450 2A 3AC Revolution ATEX Long Cased Axial Fan Three Phase AC 450mm

The Elta SLCX450/2A-3AC is a 450mm ATEX rated long cased axial fan from the Elta Revolution SLCX range, built for duct mounting in hazardous areas. It moves up to 10793 m³/h at free air and still delivers 6840 m³/h at 500 Pa, driven by a 2.2 kW 2 pole three phase motor running at 2820 rpm.Elta mark the SLCX to Ex h IIB+H2 T4 Gb, classified for constructional safety under the 2014/34/EU directive. The casing is heavy gauge sheet steel, roll formed, welded and dip galvanised after fabrication, and the adjustable pitch aerofoil impeller has carbon filled anti-static blades on a die cast aluminium hub. It is rated at 10793 m³/h free air and still delivers 6840 m³/h at 500 Pa.It is loud at 68 dB(A) at 3m and draws 28 A on a direct on line start. Where the duct is short and low resistance, the 4 pole Elta SLCX450/4B-3AC does the job more quietly. It is not suitable for Zone 0, and the marking is for gas atmospheres only, so ask us before specifying it for a combustible dust zone. Zone classification is the responsibility of the installer or site duty holder: check the Ex h IIB+H2 T4 Gb marking against your hazardous area classification before ordering.Why choose this over alternativesChoose the SLCX only where the area is classified as hazardous. Its Ex h IIB+H2 T4 Gb marking, anti-static impeller blades and ATEX build are what you are paying for; the standard Elta SLC450/2A-3AC is the non-ATEX version of a similar size for ordinary ventilation and costs considerably less, but must never be used in a zoned area.It keeps more of its airflow as pressure rises than the Elta SLCX400/2-3AC, holding 2.250 m³/s at 400 Pa against 1.690 m³/s. For more volume at high pressure, the Elta SLCX500/2-3AC moves 13111 m³/h free air.Installation notes Electrical installation must comply with BS7671 and EN60079-0 and be carried out by competent persons. Provide a means of electrical isolation in the fixed wiring and wire to diagram 152-612 through the M20 cable entry, with the M6 earth stud bonded. The fan can be mounted at any angle. Seal all flanges with an oil and diesel resistant silicone sealant, and fix to the 530mm flange using the 8 holes of 12mm diameter on a 500mm PCD. Elta state the zone inside and outside the fan can differ by no more than one zone (for example Zone 1 inside, Zone 2 outside), except when fitted with a flexible duct connection, where there is no zone separation. It is not suitable for Zone 0. It is fixed speed, direct on line. Elta must be consulted before any speed controller or inverter is used, and the controller in the ancillary pack is not ATEX rated and must be mounted outside the hazardous area. At start up check rotation, airflow direction and that motor current does not exceed the nameplate. Inspect AV mounts and earth bonding every 6 months, and check impeller tip clearance every 26,000 hours or 3 years.
