SLCX400 2 3AC Revolution ATEX Long Cased Axial Fan Three Phase AC 400mm

The Elta SLCX400/2-3AC is a 400mm ATEX rated long cased axial fan from the Elta Revolution SLCX range, built for duct mounting in hazardous areas. It moves up to 9364 m³/h at free air and still delivers 6084 m³/h at 400 Pa, driven by a 2.2 kW 2 pole three phase motor running at 2820 rpm.Elta mark the SLCX to Ex h IIB+H2 T4 Gb, classified for constructional safety under the 2014/34/EU directive. The casing is heavy gauge sheet steel, roll formed, welded and dip galvanised after fabrication, and the adjustable pitch aerofoil impeller has carbon filled anti-static blades on a die cast aluminium hub. It is fixed speed, direct on line, and Elta give a 12 month warranty. 3 Phase AC Motor Up to 9364 m³/h Fixed Speed What it is best used forDucted process extract where real system resistance has to be overcome in a 400mm duct: local exhaust from chemical process areas, fume extract through filters or a scrubber, and gas waste handling. It is rated at 9364 m³/h free air and still moves 6084 m³/h at 400 Pa.At 2820 rpm it is a noisy fan, 61 dB(A) at 3m, and it draws 28 A on a direct on line start, so check the supply and starter. If the system resistance is low, the 4 pole Elta SLCX400/4-3AC is quieter and lighter on power. It is not suitable for Zone 0, and the marking is for gas atmospheres only, so ask us before specifying it for a combustible dust zone. Zone classification is the responsibility of the installer or site duty holder: check the Ex h IIB+H2 T4 Gb marking against your hazardous area classification before ordering.Why choose this over alternativesChoose the SLCX only where the area is classified as hazardous. Its Ex h IIB+H2 T4 Gb marking, anti-static impeller blades and ATEX build are what you are paying for; the standard Elta SLC400 three phase is the non-ATEX version of a similar size for ordinary ventilation and costs considerably less, but must never be used in a zoned area.Compared with the 4 pole Elta SLCX400/4-3AC in the same casing, it gives nearly twice the free air volume and over twice the pressure capability. If you need more air at similar pressure, the Elta SLCX450/2A-3AC reaches 500 Pa in a 450mm duct.Installation notes Electrical installation must comply with BS7671 and EN60079-0 and be carried out by competent persons. Provide a means of electrical isolation in the fixed wiring and wire to diagram 152-612 through the M20 cable entry, with the M6 earth stud bonded. The fan can be mounted at any angle. Seal all flanges with an oil and diesel resistant silicone sealant, and fix to the 475mm flange using the 8 holes of 12mm diameter on a 450mm PCD. Elta state the zone inside and outside the fan can differ by no more than one zone (for example Zone 1 inside, Zone 2 outside), except when fitted with a flexible duct connection, where there is no zone separation. It is not suitable for Zone 0. It is fixed speed, direct on line. Elta must be consulted before any speed controller or inverter is used, and the controller in the ancillary pack is not ATEX rated and must be mounted outside the hazardous area. At start up check rotation, airflow direction and that motor current does not exceed the nameplate. Inspect AV mounts and earth bonding every 6 months, and check impeller tip clearance every 26,000 hours or 3 years.
