SDA500 46 3AC Raptor Case Mounted Axial Fan Three Phase AC 500mm

The Elta SDA500/46-3AC is a 500mm Raptor SDA short cased axial fan for fitting in 500mm ductwork. It moves up to 8813 m³/h in free air, 7394 m³/h at 100 Pa and still 5184 m³/h at 200 Pa, the highest pressure in Elta's published table for this model. On low speed (star) it moves 6966 m³/h for quieter running.The 4/6 pole three phase AC external rotor motor (380-415V 50Hz) runs at 1339 rpm in delta and 1075 rpm in star, drawing 764 W and 1.37 A on high speed. It is insulated to Class F with integral thermal overload protection. The Ziehl-Abegg FE2owlet aerofoil impeller has serrated trailing edges and winglets for lower noise, the mild steel case is powder coated in RAL 7045 with an IP55 terminal box, the motor is IP54, and Elta give a 12 month warranty. 3 Phase AC Motor Up to 8813 m³/h Speed Controllable What it is best used forLarger ducted duties on 500mm duct: sports halls, factory bays, warehousing, retail parks and commercial kitchens. At 50 Pa it moves 8197 m³/h, roughly 6 air changes an hour in a space of about 1370 m³.It still gives 5184 m³/h at 200 Pa, but Elta publish no figures for it beyond that, so very high resistance systems need a mixed flow or centrifugal fan. It is not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres, and the air must stay between -20°C and +70°C. It needs a 380 to 415V three phase supply.Why choose this over alternativesThere are 5 Raptor SDA models in the 500mm case, and the choice comes down to supply, noise and control. This three phase version has two built in speeds from star/delta switching and draws only 1.37 A per phase on high speed. In the same size there is also the Elta SDA500/4-1AC (4 pole single phase, 8626 m³/h, 51 dB(A)), the Elta SDA500/6-1AC (6 pole single phase, 6188 m³/h, 46 dB(A)), the Elta SDA500/4-1EC (single phase EC, 8582 m³/h, 57 dB(A)) and the Elta SDA500/4-3EC (three phase EC, 9536 m³/h, 59 dB(A)).If you need more air, the Elta SDA560/46-3AC moves 11153 m³/h in free air. For a smaller duct the Elta SDA450/46-3AC gives 7182 m³/h.Installation notes Fit it in the duct run at any angle, securely supported, with access for maintenance. The case is 250mm long with 12 holes of 10mm on a 541mm PCD at each end for Elta matching flanges 061A-0500-C, and mounting feet 060A-0500-C are available. Wire to Elta diagram 152-108: delta connection gives high speed, star gives low speed, and a star/delta switch can select between them. Swap any two supply phases to reverse rotation. For variable speed Elta pair it with the 149-TC33 three phase transformer controller. Wire the thermal contacts (TB TB) into the starter or controller circuit so the motor is protected. Fit a local means of isolation, and site the discharge so exhaust cannot be drawn back into a room through the open flue of a gas or fuel burning appliance. At first start check rotation, airflow direction and that the running current is within the rating plate. Inspect and clean the blades and guards at least every 12 months.
