The Elta SCP500/4-1AC is a 500mm Compact SCP plate mounted axial fan with a single phase 4 pole AC motor, moving up to 6772 m³/h in free air and working against static pressures up to 100 Pa. It is built for moving large volumes of air against low resistance, straight through a wall, panel or bulkhead.The 220-240V induction motor runs at 1300 rpm with greased for life ball bearings, drawing 411 W and 1.82 A. The Series 1 impeller has adjustable pitch GRP aerofoil blades, the mild steel plate and motor are powder coated and the guards epoxy coated, an IP55 terminal box is fitted on 550mm of flexible conduit, and Elta give a 12 month warranty. 1 Phase AC Motor Up to 6772 m³/h Speed Controllable What it is best used forThrough-wall extract or supply on a single phase supply in factory units, workshops, warehouses, sports halls and large commercial kitchens where air is moved straight through a wall or bulkhead. At 6772 m³/h it gives about 6 air changes an hour in a space of roughly 1152 m³, for example 24m x 12m with a 4m ceiling.It is a low pressure fan. The datasheet shows airflow only up to 100 Pa, so it is the wrong choice for ducted systems or heavy louvres; use a cased axial or inline mixed flow fan there. When speed controlled Elta limit the air temperature to +50°C (+70°C at fixed speed), and it is not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres.Why choose this over alternativesIf you have a three phase supply, the Elta SCP500/4-3AC is the same size (9500 m³/h, up to 150 Pa, 715 W, 57 dB(A)). The single phase Elta SCP500-1EC uses an EC motor with built in speed control and gives 7988 m³/h, up to 200 Pa, 639 W, 63 dB(A), so it suits sites that need more pressure or BMS control. Elta's Raptor Elta SPA500/4-1AC is the alternative 500mm single phase plate fan with a Ziehl-Abegg impeller (8514 m³/h, up to 150 Pa, 750 W, 51 dB(A)).Installation notes Mount the 655 x 655mm fan plate securely at any angle using the four 10mm holes on 615mm centres. Make sure the structure can carry its 16 kg and leave access for maintenance. The motor is prewired to an IP55 terminal box on 550mm of 20mm flexible conduit. Wire to Elta diagram 152-500 and make all earth connections; the thermal cut-out must be wired into the starter or controller control circuit. For speed control Elta list the 149-TC18 five step transformer controller (8 A). Diagram 152-500 also shows connection to the 149-EL31TK and 149-EL61TK electronic controllers; choose one rated above the motor current. Fit a local means of isolation, but do not use the isolator for day to day on and off control. Elta warn this shortens motor life; use a controller or switch instead. At first start check rotation, airflow direction and that the running current does not exceed the rating plate. Inspect and clean blades and guards at least every 12 months.
