The Elta SCP450/4-3AC is a 450mm Compact SCP plate mounted axial fan with a three phase 4 pole AC motor, moving up to 6138 m³/h in free air and working against static pressures up to 100 Pa. It is built for moving large volumes of air against low resistance through a wall, panel or bulkhead.The 380-415V induction motor runs at 1390 rpm with greased for life ball bearings, drawing 373 W and 0.68 A. The Series 1 impeller has adjustable pitch GRP aerofoil blades, the mild steel plate and motor are powder coated and the guards epoxy coated, an IP55 terminal box is fitted on 550mm of flexible conduit, and Elta give a 12 month warranty. 3 Phase AC Motor Up to 6138 m³/h Speed Controllable What it is best used forThrough-wall extract or supply on three phase sites in factory units, workshops, warehouses, sports halls and large commercial kitchens where air is moved straight through a wall or bulkhead. At 6138 m³/h it gives about 6 air changes an hour in a space of roughly 1012 m³, for example 23m x 11m with a 4m ceiling.It is a low pressure fan. The datasheet shows airflow only up to 100 Pa, so it is the wrong choice for ducted systems or heavy louvres; use a cased axial or inline mixed flow fan there. When speed controlled Elta limit the air temperature to +50°C (+70°C at fixed speed), and it is not suitable for corrosive or explosive atmospheres.Why choose this over alternativesThe single phase Elta SCP450/4-1AC is the same size (5231 m³/h, up to 100 Pa, 335 W, 51 dB(A)), for sites without three phase. For built in speed control without an inverter, the Elta SCP450-1EC gives 7337 m³/h, up to 200 Pa, 424 W, 60 dB(A). Elta's Raptor Elta SPA450/46-3AC is the three phase alternative with a Ziehl-Abegg impeller and a star/delta second speed (7193 m³/h, up to 100 Pa, 538 W, 50 dB(A) on high speed).Installation notes Mount the 575 x 575mm fan plate securely at any angle using the four 10mm holes on 535mm centres. Make sure the structure can carry its 14 kg and leave access for maintenance. Wire to Elta diagram 152-611 through the IP55 terminal box on 550mm of 20mm flexible conduit. The thermal cut-out must be wired into the starter control circuit. For variable speed Elta list the 149-TC33 five step transformer controller or an Eltadrive inverter (149-ODE3-14075-3KA1B 3 phase to 3 phase, or 149-ODE3-12037-1KB1B from a single phase supply). Fuses and circuit breakers only give short circuit protection, so Elta advise a starter with overload protection. Do not use the isolator for day to day on and off control, as it shortens motor life. At first start check rotation (swap any two supply phases to reverse it) and that the running current does not exceed the rating plate. Inspect and clean blades and guards at least every 12 months.
