The Elta Multiflow SEL500/4-3PAC is a 500mm mixed flow inline duct fan with a three phase AC motor, moving up to 9864 m³/h in free air and 9094 m³/h against 200 Pa. A diagonal mixed flow impeller and 3D stator guide vanes give it high pressure from a compact circular casing.The 4 pole motor is a 230V three phase motor which Elta state may only be operated from a frequency converter; the published performance is at 70 Hz and 2040 rpm, absorbing 1.891 kW with a peak current of 7.1 A. Elta list this model as supplied complete with control, with electronic controller 149-FU2201 named in the datasheet. The casing is weatherproofed to IPX4 with an integral IP44 terminal box, and Elta give a 12 month warranty. 3 Phase AC Motor Up to 9864 m³/h Speed Controllable What it is best used forHigh volume, high pressure systems on 500mm duct: large commercial kitchens, factories, warehouses, airport terminals and central plant. It holds 9094 m³/h at 200 Pa and still 7664 m³/h at 500 Pa.Its motor is a 230V three phase motor that Elta say may only be run from a frequency converter, so it must not be wired straight onto a 400V supply. At 72 dB(A) outlet at 3m it needs attenuation near occupied rooms.Why choose this over alternativesIt moves 9864 m³/h free air against 6991 m³/h for the SEL450/4-3PAC. The 560mm SEL560/4-3PAC moves slightly less air (9688 m³/h) but has a standard 400V 50Hz motor that can run direct on line, while this 500mm model holds far more pressure (8190 against 2448 m³/h at 400 Pa).The EC SEL500-3PEC on the same size moves 10843 m³/h free air for 1.844 kW with 74.2% overall efficiency, against 64.0% for this AC model. The AC version is the simpler choice where an inverter drive is already planned.Installation notes The fan can be mounted in any orientation. Slide it into the duct and fix it with the integral mounting bracket, making sure the ductwork is not strained, and connect duct to both inlet and outlet so no moving parts are accessible. Elta's installation manual states this motor may only be operated with a frequency converter (max. 230V). Set the converter to the rated frequency and current in Elta's table, and wire to diagram 152-544. The thermal contact must be connected to an external tripping unit. The internal thermal protection does not cover a blocked impeller, so fit a motor protection switch with thermal and magnetic release, plus a means of isolation and an earth. Use fast clamps (018-500-CLAMP) or matching flanges (061B-0500) to connect to the duct, and run the airflow in the direction marked on the casing. Install indoors in a dry, condensation free space: Elta's installation manual says SEL fans must not be operated out of doors, and they are not for explosive atmospheres. Clean the impeller and casing at the recommended intervals; an upstream filter extends them.
