The Elta Clearflow CFHT400 is a 400mm roof mounted centrifugal fan with vertical discharge, rated for operating temperatures up to +120°C. It moves up to 2912 m³/h at free air and 270 m³/h at 400 Pa, the highest pressure in Elta's performance table, and it throws the exhaust upwards, away from occupied areas.The three phase TEFC motor (380-415V 50Hz, 4 pole, 1435 rpm) sits out of the air stream, is IP55 rated with sealed for life bearings and Class F insulation, and drives a free running impeller with 7 backward curved, powder coated steel blades. The casing is pre-galvanised sheet steel, a wind guard is fitted as standard, and Elta give a 12 month warranty. 3 Phase AC Motor Up to 2912 m³/h Speed Controllable What it is best used forRoof extract for a restaurant or pub kitchen, a hospital servery, a small bakery or a light industrial process area where the exhaust is warm, greasy or dirty. It gives 2912 m³/h free air and still about 2225 m³/h against 200 Pa, so it copes with a canopy, filters and a modest duct run.It is not a smoke extract fan: Elta rate it for continuous running with air up to +120°C and the datasheet gives no smoke or fire temperature/time rating, so use a certified smoke fan where one is specified. It is three phase only and must run through an Eltadrive variable speed drive, so budget for the drive. For a ducted fan inside the building rather than on the roof, look at a high temperature box fan instead.Why choose this over alternativesA roof mounted fan keeps the motor and the noise outside the building and puts the discharge high above the roof line. Unlike a roof fan with its motor in the airflow, the CFHT400 keeps its motor out of the air stream and is rated for air up to +120°C, so it suits grease laden or hot extract that would shorten the life of a fan with the motor in the airflow. The base can sit on a roof pitched at up to 15°, which can save building a level upstand.The Clearflow range runs from 350 to 630mm. Elta's data show overall efficiency of 37.1% at the best efficiency point for this size.Installation notes Mount on the roof with the discharge vertical. The fan can be fitted at angles up to 15°, so it can go directly onto a pitched roof. An Eltadrive variable speed drive must be installed with this fan. For a single phase site Elta list 149-ODE3-12075-1KB1Y (IP66) or 149-ODE3-12075-1KB12 (IP20), which run the three phase motor from a single phase supply; for a three phase site use 149-ODE3-14075-3KA1Y (IP66) or 149-ODE3-14075-3KA12 (IP20). Wire to Elta wiring diagram 152-600 and provide a local means of isolation. Use an IP66 drive if it will be mounted outside next to the fan. The fan weighs 47 kg. Check that the roof, upstand or kerb can carry it, and leave safe access for cleaning. The wind guard lifts off for cleaning, and the motor sits out of the air stream, so grease build up can be cleaned from the impeller and casing without disturbing the motor.
