Featuring a core diameter of 50 microns OM4 cables provide superior bandwidth and extended reach compared to OM3. These cables support 10 Gigabit Ethernet over distances up to 550 metres and can even handle 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet for shorter distances making them ideal for data centres and high-speed network backbones. A common connector type for OM4 cables is ST-ST (Straight Tip to Straight Tip) which ensures secure and stable connections. The ST-ST connectors are renowned for their robust locking mechanism making them suitable for environments where cables are frequently connected and disconnected. Overall OM4 fibre optic cables with ST-ST connectors offer reliable and high-speed network performance.
