The String King is an online shop for violin, viola, cello and double bass players, run by SBG Aurora Ltd from its head office at Lower Grange Farm in Feltham, near Frome, Somerset. SBG Aurora, incorporated in March 2003 and registered at Companies House as 04691558, runs several e-commerce sites; this one sells strings, bows, cases and instruments to UK musicians in pounds.

What The String King sells

• Strings for violin, viola, cello and double bass, from Pirastro Tonica and Obligato sets to D'Addario Helicore and Larsen Aurora
• Bows for all four instruments, from student models up to Finkel and Musing bows for professionals
• Rosins for each instrument, shoulder rests and fittings, bridges, cleaning cloths, metronomes and teaching aids
• BAM cases for orchestral strings, guitar, brass and woodwind, plus violin, viola, cello, bass and bow cases
• Instrument outfits from beginner to advanced level, and Oldwood varnishes and oils for finishing instruments

The shop says it stocks virtually every quality violin and cello string sold in the UK and publishes a string FAQ to help players choose a set.

Delivery and returns

Standard UK delivery is free on orders over £10 and £1.99 below that. It travels by tracked Royal Mail 2nd Class, small items such as strings fit through the letterbox, and parcels should arrive within 3 to 5 working days. Paid express orders leave the next working day by 1st Class and take 2 to 3 working days. Instruments and cases are excluded from free delivery and cost £4.49 standard or £7.99 express. International delivery is offered, with prices shown at checkout.

Unused items in their original packaging can be returned within 30 days of purchase to the Frome returns address. Customers pay the return postage unless the shop made a mistake with the order, in which case it arranges a prepaid return, and refunds go back to the original payment method within 5 working days. Orders are packed in recycled cardboard envelopes and boxes, and the shop says it keeps plastic packing to a minimum.
