Yoomi was founded in 2006 by Jim Shaikh, a former award-winning design engineer at BMW, and his wife Farah Butt, a litigation lawyer. After struggling with feeding time for their first-born child, Farah urged Jim to create a more efficient bottle feeding solution, leading to a two-year mission of development and consumer testing.
The result was the world's first self-warming baby bottle with reusable warming cones, revolutionising baby bottle-feeding. The Yoomi bottle won the Design and Engineering Sector Award in the first London Technology Fund Competition in 2008.
Based in Kent, the company employs six people at its UK HQ, with exporting accounting for 90% of turnover. Yoomi products are stocked in major national and international stores across 24 countries around the world.
