Cartwright & Butler started life in 1981 with a range of homemade jam sold at a local farmers' market in Yorkshire. The brand aspired to create jams and preserves that tasted even better than homemade. From a rented room in a nearby spice packing factory, the company expanded to include luxury preserves and indulgent biscuits.

The business has deeper roots through the Arnett family, whose baking heritage spans five generations to 1903 when the Adam sisters set up a sewing and baking shop in Hull. Their success in baking led to J&K Adam becoming renowned for breads, pies, cakes, biscuits, puddings and preserves.

Still based in Yorkshire, Cartwright & Butler has blossomed into a fully-fledged foodie favourite, serving up biscuits, seasonal cakes, jams, preserves, tea and coffee in beautiful heritage-inspired boxes and tins. Products are handmade in small batches using traditional methods.
