Chessington

Chessington World of Adventures Resort is a 128-acre theme park, zoo, and hotel complex in Chessington, Greater London, approximately 12 miles southwest of Central London. Originally opening as Chessington Zoo in 1931, the theme park was developed by The Tussauds Group and debuted on 7 July 1987 as one of the first combined animal-amusement parks in the UK.

Marketed as "Britain's Wildest Family Adventure", Chessington features over 40 rides and attractions across 10 themed lands, a SEA LIFE aquarium, and a zoo with more than 1,000 animals. Popular attractions include Vampire (a swinging coaster), Dragon's Fury (spinning rollercoaster), Tiger Rock (log flume past real tigers), and Tomb Blaster (interactive dark ride).

Themed areas are inspired by world cultures, with Adventure Point at the centre, Shipwreck Coast (nautical harbour), Wild Woods (Central European), Forbidden Kingdom (ancient Middle East), and Land of the Tiger (Far East). Two themed hotels offer overnight stays for extended adventures.

In 2026, Chessington welcomes Adventure Bay - the UK's first and only PAW Patrol-themed land. Now owned by Merlin Entertainments, Chessington won Theme Park of the Year at the 2023 UK Theme Park Awards. Access is easy via train to Chessington South (Zone 6, Oyster accepted) or by car from the A243 near the M25.
