Spartoo is a leading European online shoe and fashion retailer founded in 2006 in Grenoble, France by Boris Saragaglia, Paul Lorne, and Jérémie Touchard. The name was inspired by the gladiator sandal from ancient Sparta. Modelled after American retailer Zappos, Spartoo launched in the UK in 2009 and now operates in over 30 European countries. With around 370 employees at their Grenoble headquarters, Spartoo offers over 300,000 pairs of shoes from more than 8,000 brands including Ralph Lauren and Lacoste. In early 2011, they sold more than one million pairs of shoes across Europe, demonstrating their position as a major footwear destination.
