Cartridge World is a global organisation with over 600 stores worldwide and is the UK's largest specialist provider of ink and laser toner printer cartridges. The company was founded in 1992 as the "Australian Cartridge Company" in Adelaide by Bryan Stokes, who saw an opportunity in the growing market for printer cartridge refilling. The origins trace back to 1988 when Stokes saw an advert for Australian Laser Charge and signed up to learn how to refill laser cartridges. He was taught how to refill just two types of cartridge and commenced business from his garden shed. From these humble beginnings, Cartridge World has grown into one of the world's largest dedicated specialty retailers of ink and toner cartridges. The company changed its name to Cartridge World in 1999, with the first franchise opening in 1997. In February 2001, the first UK store opened in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. The franchise model has since expanded to over 30 countries, with local expert teams providing everything customers need for cartridges, printing, paper, and more.
