Smart Air is a social enterprise and certified B-Corp dedicated to fighting air pollution, founded in 2013 by PhD student Thomas Talhelm. While in Beijing, Thomas questioned why air purifiers cost so much, leading him to create a simple but effective solution by strapping a HEPA filter to a fan. After publishing his research and leading DIY workshops, Smart Air launched to ship fans and filters at affordable prices worldwide. Since 2013, the company has run over 600 educational workshops reaching 25,000+ people, conducted over 30,000 hours of tests, and shipped over 85,000 purifiers to more than 50 countries. Smart Air creates simple, no-nonsense air purifiers and provides free education to protect people's health from the effects of air pollution.
