Vivobarefoot was founded in 2012 by Galahad and Asher Clark, cousins and seventh-generation cobblers from Glastonbury, Somerset. They continue a family legacy in shoemaking that dates back to 1825 - the Clark family gave rise to the well-known Clarks shoe brand. The idea for barefoot shoes came to Galahad in 2003 when childhood friend and avid tennis player Tim Brennan presented him with the first barefoot shoe concept. Together, they worked to create technology enabling natural movement while protecting the foot. Vivobarefoot stepped out as its own company in 2012, led by cousins Asher and Galahad. They wanted to challenge the conventional shoe industry and reconnect people to nature through their feet. The technology offers optimum biomechanics and posture commonly associated with walking barefoot. Vivobarefoot is an independent family business and a certified B Corp, demonstrating their commitment to social and environmental responsibility. Their shoes feature thin, flexible soles that allow the foot to move naturally while providing protection.
