SkinCeuticals is a clinical skincare brand founded in 1994 based on decades of antioxidant research by Dr Sheldon Pinnell at Duke University. Pioneering the role of antioxidants in skincare, Dr Pinnell was the first to patent a stable form of vitamin C proven to penetrate skin, delivering eight times natural antioxidant protection. In 1997, he patented a serum containing 15% vitamin C, 1% vitamin E, and ferulic acid - the Duke Antioxidant Patent that only SkinCeuticals formulates to. Acquired by L'Oréal in 2005 for its clinical respect and consumer buzz, SkinCeuticals high-potency formulas are now used by over 9,000 dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and medi-spas worldwide. Dr Pinnell passed away in July 2013 but his legacy lives on.
