Saltrock UK

Saltrock Surfwear was created in 1988 by brothers Ross and Angus Thomson in Cornwall. Running short of funds to support their surfing passion, they put their artistic talents to work, printing original surf-inspired designs on t-shirts with a homemade screen and selling them from their Austin Allegro. They named the brand after their favourite surf break in South Africa.

The surfers of Cornwall loved the shirts, and demand quickly grew. The brothers moved from Penzance to Croyde, building what would become the UK's original surfwear brand. Their mascot Tok—a crazy-haired surfer boy named after the South African Tokoloshe legend—has become an iconic symbol of the brand.

Today, Saltrock is a major British lifestyle brand with over 60 stores across the UK, offering clothing and accessories for men, women, and children. Products include swimwear, t-shirts, hoodies, wetsuits, and outdoor essentials designed for surfing, camping, and coastal adventures—all still designed locally in Devon.

After briefly entering administration in 2018, Saltrock was acquired by Crew Clothing Co Group. The brand continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainability with more recycled materials and planet-friendly processes each season.
